I would have to say the thing I liked the most about this CSW class is that, all of the assignments are to be done on the computer rather than hand writing the papers and turning them in. This is the first time I have taken a writing class like this and to be honest, I like it alot. The least favorite thing to do in this class was to respond to the blogs, just because I would forget to majority of the time. The multimodal assignment is the project that I am most proud of because I thought that my project was to basic, I mean I should have detailed it more but my grade was great overall with just the work I had first. From this class, I will learned that hypertext essays offer more information and creditable sources used then traditional papers. I have learned a thing or two about myself in this class and that is creditable resources help to establish better authority then just regular hand written papers. If this is one thing I could have done different in this class, it would be to complete homework on time more often.

My Claim

Parents should monitor their children's internet usage because children can be exposed to information made for mature eyes only.

The think I find most difficult in writing academically is organization. For me I have no problems generating ideas for a specific topic but when I try to organize my thoughts, this is where I struggle. I have a tendency to elaborate on my supporting ideas but then I tend to stray away from my topic and talk about something else. It is much easier to write creatively I think because there is no pressure as compared to writing for a class. I can free write and express my ideas clearly enough for the reader to grasp my thesis right away. Integrating sources is difficult at first but after you are able to find one great source, that will lead to the next good source. It is almost a domino effect once you are able to find the initial source because you then have some ideas about your next source.

There were a couple of choices as far as my audience and purpose. I wanted my audience to be targeted towards business oriented people and consumers who use the internet to shop around on. Also, consumers who don’t utilize the internet for researching purposes because after they have read my topic they might start using the internet more often. My purpose for writing this essay is to inform readers about the impacts of businesses choosing not to use the internet for their business. I would have to say I am proud of my organization of this essay because a lot of time was put into this project and research as well. My pictures and hyperlinks are great sources of information relating to my essay. I would have liked to improve my proofreading for this essay because my brain is thinking faster then my hands are moving sometimes. I would have also like to improve on incorporating my powerpoint slides into my essay because this will look more organized and an well efficient essay. I think that we were allotted plenty of time, but as you already know, most of college students procrastinate until the day of the essay being due. I also like how to made us complete the final draft a week ahead of time because this was very helpful since I always wait until the last minute. I would have to say the my topic of choice was ok for this multimodal essay because I had already done research on my hypertext essay that was similar to this essay. I think I could have spent more time on researching information for other sources such as books and magazines. I believe that if we were allowed to revise these essays, I would have an “A” every time but sometimes things don’t work out the way that you would like. Overall I am proud of my research on this multimodal project and now I am just “thrilled” over the web argument project, ha ha.

Research

To be honest, I have so many experiences involving research, I don’t even know where to begin. My first approach to researching information is that I enjoy choosing a topic which I can be comfortable writing about. Then my next step is gathering all of the information on my topic of choice, then I am able to determine which source is reliable information to use for my paper. After this I am able to begin the writing process and as I write I can cite my paper according to the sources I used to prove authority behind my references. I have to say I invest a lot of time into researching before writing any paper. MLA and APA are specific writing styles that every writer uses when he/she are creating papers. MLA is the more common of the two when writing papers and citing sources involving liberal arts and humanities. APA is also well known when writing papers involving social sciences. We give attribution to the original authors in our texts because by taking their written words we create plagiarism since we are stealing other others information. By creating reference pages and works cited pages, this allows us to use the author’s information in our own papers. No harm is done as long as you as a writer prove where your source of information originally came from.

Business oriented parents are who I think will be the most interested in my essay. I would even think specific age groups from 25-50 years old male and female. This group has the most to benefit from the internet because more parents are becoming computer oriented, with the help of better software applications and the World Wide Web. My topic is extremely compatible with many Web readers because everywhere you look today, teenagers are always using the internet for school, chat rooms, instant messaging, and much more. The parents have now developed a passion for monitoring their children’s activities on the computer. I am proud of my explanations and details between parents and teens internet usage. I tried to explain my reactions to the article to the best of my ability and also gave credit to the respected authors of my outside sources. I definitely would tweak my project by incorporating more details in each response to show how affective this article could really be. I should have talked about the future of parents and teens internet usage in my conclusion to interest the reader even further after they are done reading the essay. I would improve my sentences by proofreading each one to ensure that every sentence is well thought and presented accordingly. I really appreciate how my instructor comments on every single aspect of my project because her ideas helped to explain my thesis much better. Without her advice and very detailed comments, I don’t think my hypertext essay would not have turned out as good as I thought it was going to be. This topic works great because my determination to become a successful business-oriented parent, and hopefully one day my teenagers will show me a thing or two new about the internet. I feel that this article worked well with my topic of the internet and businesses for all of these reasons.
